Well, I decided to dick around on the Internet today instead of reading or do anything productive. I re-read old articles, went on TV Tropes, and was amusing myself when a thought occurred to me. So, if Livejournal ever goes down... where will my fanfics go? I actually thought about this, not going to lie. I'm thinking of maybe doing what I did before and putting a ton of my fics into multi-chapters on AO3, but using like, the date I wrote them to hide them from getting on the front. These are old fics and probably would work better like that.

But at the same time, I don't really want to expose them. But then I do because I want a record that I wrote them. Sure, I've got them on my external Harddrive but I worry about the day when I can't access that, what will happen to my fics? As of right now, Livejournal is the only place where I have fics I've documented since like 2010. Or 2009. One of those years. (Edit: 2011, whoops).

So, I don't know. I know one person out there who would die to see my Persona 4 fics again. Like she would be ecstatic. And I wouldn't mind putting those up. My Skyrim ones... ehh... Maybe. Not all of them, of course, but you know. And the rest are already all up, save for like, a Pokemon Conquest one. I should put that up on AO3. Anyways, it's something for me to think about...

...In between trying to figure out a way to get Kagekatsu and Lady Hayakawa together...

That's interesting you mention Livejournal's possible extinction. I remember reading an article back in 2010/11 that listed the top 10 social media outlets that went from great to irrelevant, and Livejournal was one of them. Then I got an email from LJ one day about inactive accounts getting purged, and just because I'm a sucker for nostalgia, I logged in once just so that my account wouldn't get purged lol. Hopefully Livejournal won't go away, but you're right; where will all the stuff go if the website you've devoted it all to disappears one day? Maybe you could upload it all to Dropbox or Google Drive; then you'll have a piece of mind but also not expose your fanfics too much.

Has AO3 gotten any bigger lately? I never bothered making an account there because it felt more like a fetish fic site to me ahaha (and because one can handle only so much uncensored niche porn). Also because nobody ever seems to leave reviews on any stories. FF.net is full of preteens, but I still go there to read the occasional OTP fluffs and at least they leave dispassionate one-liner reviews like "This sucks" or "Cool." Like, you know it's gonna be one way or the other xD

If you plan to upload any more P4 fics that you haven't already, make that two ecstatic people on the waiting list :D I know you said that you probably won't write any more new ones, but I must know all of Dojima's trysts with his naughty nephew D: ALL.

On top of my super long comment, I also noticed your nice new LJ layout by the way! I do miss your plain light background too though ahah but you probably had that forever and needed the change. Nothing like starting the new year with jazzing up stuff! Hope you enjoyed your holidays :) And Happy Birthday~~

Livejournal used to be so big... but I think it's huge extinction is coming from everyone bailing and running to tumblr. Before, it never really had such big competition but our society seems to be moving to a reactionary one instead of one that will document its feelings over time. It's so strange. But yes, I do suppose dropbox... hm..

AO3 had. But you are right, it's mostly fetish stuff (so much). I wouldn't recommend joining because you don't get anything out of joining that you don't get as anonymous. Yeah, you can put fics up but everyone is more concerned to have porn, not real reading. (And I did upload all my persona fics. Look up Dojima/Souji and 'A Collection of Persona Fics' is mine.)
