Hm. So, I got an email saying my paid account is going to expire and for once, I think, should I renew it? I'm unsure. People in fandoms are promoting Dreamwidth and I might go check it out.

I also was told today that our drought that happened here will get worse. I am worried so much for my horses now... Just as a side effect.

Nooooo, don't leave! ;___; LJ thrives on veteran users to keep itself relevant...but most importantly, I will have nobody left on LJ to stalk...*cough cough*

Ah, Dreamwidth. The A03 of online blogging lol. I remember checking out Dreamwidth back in 2011, and I was annoyed with the whole invite-only account exclusivity. I guess it did generate more paying users in retrospect? But I still think Dreamwidth is just going through a hippie hype at the moment after they collected enough $ to get rid of the invite codes, and also because of their noble "never-make-money-off-ads-like-common-social-media-thugs" ideology and how it's 'open source', so that one can have unlimited creative freedom and all. Because most people in fandoms won't want to pay to write journals/fanfics/Rps/etc and only a few are adept with coding to do anything on DW that the definition of 'open source' stands for. And I don't know if you remember (or even heard of) Digg, but they too once promised 'no ads', and now they are completely trampled after a few years of spotlight. Even Facebook/Twitter was all about 'no ads!' at their inception...and say what you will, but they're still more relevant than any other social media outlets...thanks to ads. Or perhaps I am too much of a pessimist to believe that Dreamwidth will get anywhere, although their brand name and some of the layouts on the user pages are truly, very pretty...

And weather predictions aren't always spot-on, so perhaps el nino might end sooner than expected and that western Canada won't be as dry as this past summer again. Protect your horses!
